From sun-filled beach days and dolphin-watching tours to mouthwatering seafood and exciting local festivals, Hilton Head offers something for everyone. To help you make the most of your trip, we've put together this ultimate guide covering everything from weather tips to can't-miss experiences.

Weather in June

June is officially summer for Hilton Head Island, which means warm, sunny days perfect for beach days and outdoor adventures. Average high temperatures reach about 83°F, while nighttime lows settle around 69°F. The ocean temperature is now comfortably warm, usually around 75°F, making it an ideal time for swimming, paddleboarding, and other fun water activities.

Compared to May, June is noticeably warmer, with fewer cool evenings and more humidity. Though most days in June are filled with sunshine, occasional afternoon showers or thunderstorms can roll through, cooling things off for a short period.

The good new is, the periods of rain are typically brief and leave plenty of time for outdoor fun.

Crowd Levels

June is commonly known as the beginning of tourist season for the island which brings more energy and people!  Expect moderate to high crowd levels, particularly at popular beaches, attractions, and restaurants.

While the island never feels overwhelmingly packed, you’ll notice an increase in visitors, bikers, and beach goers compared to May. Weekends tend to be busier, so planning your activities during the week or early mornings can help you avoid the crows. To secure the activities and events you want to attend, it's recommended to book in advance and don’t forget to call ahead for dining experiences.

Getting on and off the island is also something to plan ahead for. Early mornings before 8 AM is the best time to come and go onto the island. It’s best to avoid leaving the island around evening hours after 4 PM to avoid after work traffic during the weekdays. Despite the crowds, the warm weather and events make June one of the best times to experience Hilton Head Island.
